Queens Palms can be maintained with products like Lutz Manganese Spikes, which you can get on Amazon, and are fine if used regularly, but they take months to deliver the manganese to the top. Regular palm tree fertilizers don't have enough manganese for Queen Palms!!! These products are fine if used regularly on healthy trees. Once we get your Queen Palms healthy you can maintain them by either having us treat them yearly with injections, or by doing it yourself with the products listed below. You can call Pat at (480) 969-8808 to schedule an appointment to have me look at your trees. It is absolutely the fastest way to get the manganese to the tops, which is critical for the correct development of the new fronds. That's why we inject a special liquid fertilizer, high in manganese, directly into the Queen Palms. If it is manganese deficient it is more susceptible to fungus, and other diseases. if a Queen Palm has enough manganese its chances of fighting a disease are greatly improved, and the frond is much less likely to brake in strong winds. Queen Palms need lots of manganese to fight disease, and grow strong fronds. I suspect that people will start noticing the damage done to the Queen Palms in the spring of 2017 and beyond, If you're one of those people here's what you should know. This new shoot would have created the top frown for the season, and if a Queen Palm goes for a year or two without growing a top, it is in danger of dying. The clincher however was that I observed that everywhere this occurred at least 50% of the queen palms had their new shoot destroyed. I know this because of the sudden increase in calls I received for certain types of tree problems.įirst I received a flood of calls on brazilin pepper trees with sporadic dying leaves, something which hardly ever happens, this was matched by calls for grapefruit trees with dying leaves, something that does happen after a rain every two to three years.Īlso I received a slew of calls for ash trees with dying branches, that couldn't be totally explained by insect damage. Had some unusual effects on certain trees in the valley. Sometime In the summer of 2016 a rain that fell in Maricopa County Arizona. The tree injectors will get the necessary manganese and other micro nutrients to the fawns quicker than any other method. The best way we have found to get the micro nutrients directly into the tree is with tree injectors that go directly into the trees. The reason queen palms are susceptible to fungal infection is usually because there isn’t enough manganese available for the new frowns as they develop.īy regularly introducing manganese into the root system in the correct amounts (usually 12% or more), the new frowns will be more resistant to fungal infections. Unlike most other palm trees, the queen palm mainly uses manganese in large amounts as an enzyme-activator to fight off diseases. This disease is spread by rain, insects and people that trim your trees and don’t sterilize their tools properly.Ī healthy tree that has all the micro nutrients it needs can fight off this infection. If the fronds of your queen palms look stunted or frizzled, your queen palms have a fungal infection commonly called 'Frizzle Top'.

The zombie yeti returns from the original Plants vs. Yeti The Yeti Appears-And He's Carrying a Lunchbox These gates can also be unlocked with a real-money transaction if the player chooses to do so. Certain levels are locked behind special gates and only unlock once the player has acquired enough keys from that world. Most levels are unlocked in a linear fashion, beat one level and the next one is unlocked. Each world comes with its own unique world map which players use to select their level. Zombies 2 plays across three different worlds: an Egypt-themed world, a pirate-themed world, and a wild west-themed world. Certain levels will have only one star to collect, and these levels will usually introduce a challenge that dramatically changes the way the game is played these levels often resemble the minigames from the original Plants vs. Most levels have three stars to collect, but these stars are locked and cannot be collected until the player reaches the end of the world. These restrictions include a sun-spending limit, special plants to protect, and many more. Most challenges require players to replay a level under certain restrictions. Stars are special items required to advance to the next world which players can collect by completing special challenges on levels. Stars Level Select With an Unclaimed Star Keys are used to open gates on the world map that lead to more plants, upgrades, and levels. They can drop in any level and from any enemy. Keys are special items that randomly drop when enemies are killed. Players pinch zombies away with Power Pinch, flick zombies into oblivion with Power Toss, or press and electrocute zombies to dust with Power Zap. Each power allows the player to use touch-device gestures to easily kill zombies. To use these powers, the player clicks on the corresponding icon at the bottom of the screen and then he or she is given several seconds to use the power. Three new abilities the player can use at any time were added to the game: Power Pinch, Power Toss, and Power Zap. Once the plant food is dropped, it floats around the screen until the player clicks on it and collects it, similarly to sun. This glow signifies that they will drop plant food once killed. Throughout a level, zombies will randomly come out with a green glows. Every plant in the game can be powered up and each plant's power-up is unique and usually involves a beefed-up version of their usual attack or ability. To power up a plant, the player clicks on the plant food icon at the bottom of the screen and then clicks on a plant that has been placed. Plant food allows the player to power up one of his or her plants. Gameplay New Mechanics Plant Food Plant Food Zombies 2: It's About Time is a free-to-play game. This, indeed, is a recurring trait of Lost Paradise. Fortunately, Kenshiro himself (Robbie Daymond) is a likable lead, his ultra-serious demeanour and deadpan delivery strongly reminiscent of Kazuma Kiryu, lead character from the Yakuza series. The most appealing secondary character is probably Rei, a master of Nanto Seiken who works alongside Kenshiro at certain points during the story and is voiced by Chris Hackney, who plays Dimitri in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. He’s the sort of character who might appeal to eight-year-old boys, but considering the game’s 17+ rating, that’s hardly the target audience. Jagre is an annoying buffoon and hotheaded blowhard who can’t tie his own shoelaces without asking Kenshiro for help. Meanwhile, Kenshiro spends much of the game in the company of Jagre, Captain of the Town Watch. Xsana’s moral grandstanding, though superficially “inspiring”, would quickly destroy the city and render its citizens destitute, which to my mind is rather the opposite of prudent and responsible government. Even if the “open borders” policy was applied only to law-abiding people, it would quickly deplete Eden’s limited resources, bringing an end to its prosperity. Considering that the wasteland contains vast numbers of bandits, murderers, maniacs, slave-traders, and all manner of predators and parasites, this seems rather reckless – especially as Eden’s incompetent Town Watch is already overwhelmed and incapable of solving even simple problems without Kenshiro’s help. That this is not mere indolence, but strategy, is suggested by Xsana’s later decision to open the city to all-comers. Early in the story, a bandit invasion blows a huge hole in the city’s wall but this major security breach remains unrepaired throughout the rest of the game. Xsana is an irritating “author shill”, constantly put over as the “saviour” of Eden when in fact the policies she adopts seriously threaten the wellbeing of the people she is supposed to protect. Most of the game’s story takes place within these walls, though Kenshiro is frequently called upon to visit adjoining parts of the wasteland.Įden is governed by Xsana (pronounced “Kisana”), the apparently benign “Holy Maiden” who inherited absolute power in the city from its founder, her father Nadai. This draws Kenshiro to Eden, a relatively prosperous city protected by giant walls and drawing its power from a massive pre-war industrial facility. Lost Paradise begins with Kenshiro scouring the desert for information as to the whereabouts of his missing fiance, Yuria. Hokuto Shinken allows Kenshiro to manipulate someone’s life force, for good or ill he can cure people of blindness or other ailments, but he can also cause them to explode in a shower of gore. The series protagonist, Kenshiro, is a martial arts expert trained in Hokuto Shinken, a discipline so powerful that it is taught only to one man in each generation. The few scattered survivors eke out a living by scavenging and subsistence farming, banding together in small communities to protect against roving bandits. But the project’s rich potential is, unfortunately, somewhat poorly realized.įist of the North Star is set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, with civilization having been destroyed by nuclear war. In theory, the grim and ultra-violent world of Fist of the North Star is a perfect match for the talents of the Yakuza development studio. Fist of the North Star is itself a major multi-media franchise in Japan, but it’s also fairly well-known in the West: the original 1980s anime was one of the first to develop a significant cult following in Western markets. Released worldwide in late 2018, Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise was developed by Sega’s Ryu Ga Gotoku studio, known for its work on the successful Yakuza series. And it turns out that the Lithionics battery powers my computing gear for at least 20 hours. In the end, and after 6 weeks of intensive field use in remote areas, I concluded that the extra cost and complexity and risk of failures of a 2nd alternator were not a good choice for my particular needs. For example, I want to run a ~300 watt computing system for hours for two days and know that I can recharge that system in an hour or two of driving. But it looks quite challenging to charge the Lithionics lithium battery anywhere close to its potential speed. When fast charging is possible, one can enjoy ample electrical power every day, without fretting over how long the batteries will last. Also, the engine never gets to full operating temperature in very cold conditions, which is also Not Good.įast charging of batteries is a win: you get to enjoy ample battery power without worrying about draining the batteries and waiting all day or longer to recharge.Ī good battery bank can soak up a lot of amperage the Lithionics lithium battery accepts 360 charging amps (about 5100 watts), far more than a primary or secondary alternator can deliver or even the 150 amps supplied by a charger/inverter like the Xantrex 3012 via shore power. Idling is the kiss of death for the Sprinter (oil vaporizes in the turbo during DFP regeneration), so 3 or 4 hours a day of idling in very cold temps is just problematic. Update December 2018: with dual 400 amp batteries, charging takes too much idling and fuel, particularly for topping off from 70% on up where the alternator drops output due to already good voltage. It charges a single Lithionics lithium battery from 20% SoC to 100% in about 4 hours of driving-plenty fast for my needs. The stock Mercedes alternator peaks at 14.2 volts plus or minus a tiny bit, and supplies up to 140 amps of charging power while driving (and at 35-60 amps at 800 rpm idle, depending on what it senses for voltge). If more rapid charging and/or very high amperage is a requirement (such as for rooftop-mounted air conditioning), then the Mercedes Sprinter van has provisions for a 2nd alternator. The 6 cylinder engine is an easier install the 4 cylinder slightly more complicated. The primary built-in alternator can do the job for charging a battery bank albeit at a slower rate than a dedicated 2nd alternator and regulator. The stock Mercedes Sprinter alternator is working GREAT in severe conditions over 6 weeks of intensive use. My final conclusion was to NOT install a 2nd alternator: cost, complexity and increased risk of failure way down remote areas that can require (if available at all) $2000+ tows out.
